ludicrous: unreasonable, ridiculous
e.g.
It is cracking ludicrous that many teens follow-suit their fans in a crazy way.

petty: trivial
e.g.
Normally, some native speakers would use the word ‘petty’ to represent the adjective ‘trivial’ or ‘unimportant’.

melodramatic: exaggerating / dramatic
e.g.
To be honest, some ads in our life are kinda melodramatic.
termagant: scolding / bad-tempered woman
e.g.
Well, this topic reminds me of a termagant who is our neighbor.

superfluous: unnecessary / be no longer needed
e.g.
People with external locus of control would believe that it is superfluous to work hard since they attribute their success or failure onto their luck.
hooks and buttons: trivial stuff
e.g.
When she gets home, she would get down to some hooks and buttons, like, mopping the floor, dusting the wardrobe and etc.


be full of oneself: be conceited
e.g.
He is always full of himself ‘cos he seldom takes others’ proposals.

have a smack at sth.: try sth.
e.g.
My neighbor Jacob is an ambitious boy who always has a smack at something new.

chapters: one’s past experiences
e.g.
He has finally landed this position due to his outstanding chapters.

put on airs and graces: strike an attitude
e.g.
Mr. Woods is not welcome in his company ‘cos he always puts on airs and graces when he talks to others.
